Vietnam Coast Guard delegation assigned tasks for GCGS-4
PANO - On September 9 in Hanoi, Major General Vu Trung Kien, Deputy Commander for Law of the Vietnam Coast Guard, chaired a meeting to assign tasks to the Vietnam Coast Guard delegation attending the fourth Global Coast Guard Summit (GCGS-4).
As scheduled, the Vietnamese delegation, led by Sr. Col. Ngo Minh Tung, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam Coast Guard, will participate in the summit in Rome, Italy, from September 9 to 12.

The GCGS is a new forum for dialogue and cooperation, where heads of maritime law enforcement agencies worldwide and secretaries-general of international maritime agencies gather to discuss and promote cooperation policies and coordination mechanisms beyond bilateral and regional frameworks. This year’s summit will focus on issues, such as ocean health and safety, emerging technologies and artificial intelligence in the maritime sector, and strengthening maritime law enforcement capacity.

Speaking at the task assignment meeting, Gen. Kien emphasized that GCGS-4 is an important external engagement activity, creating an opportunity for nations to exchange views openly and transparently, thereby fostering mutual understanding and enhancing cooperation to address common maritime security challenges.
He requested all members of the Vietnamese delegation to thoroughly grasp their assigned tasks, uphold a strong sense of responsibility, strictly observe defense diplomacy principles, maintain discipline and professional conduct, and foster unity and mutual support in both work and daily activities.

The leader also encouraged delegates to make the best use of this valuable opportunity to exchange and share experiences with foreign maritime law enforcement forces participating in the summit.
