During the meeting, General Thang congratulated Cambodia on its important achievements in both domestic and foreign affairs under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party over the past 70 years, especially the success of the recent election, the fulfilment of the role as ASEAN Chair 2022, and the successful organization of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games last May. He believed that under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party, Cambodia will gain even greater achievements in the coming time.

The deputy chief of the General Staff emphasized the time-honored friendship between the two countries. He recalled that the two militaries and peoples stood side by side in the struggle against colonialists and imperialists to bring independence, freedom, and happiness to the people of each country and overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
He stressed that Vietnam always treasures and wishes to continuously promote the solidarity, friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability with Cambodia, considering this one of the top priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy.
General Thang hoped that the two countries' military and defense strategic research agencies will continue to increase exchanges and sharing of professional experience; exchange delegations at all levels, conduct joint researches, well coordinate and advise defense leaders of the two countries to issue cooperation orientation in the coming time and strategic solutions to military and defense matters. The host affirmed that the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army always supports and creates favorable conditions for the two agencies to strengthen cooperation, contributing to further deepening the bilateral defense ties.
For his part, General Meas Vanna sincerely thanked the host for the warm reception and briefed General Thang on the outcomes of the delegation's working session with the Vietnam Institute for Defense Strategy. He said that the two sides achieved a number of positive results in exchanging views in issues of mutual concern and discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in the near future.
Head of the Cambodian delegation hoped that the two sides will continue to cooperate and give support to each other, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two militaries and peoples for peace and stability in the region.

* Earlier the same day, Major General Vu Cuong Quyet, head of the Vietnam Institute for Defense Strategy, had a working session with the Cambodian delegation, during which he congratulated Cambodia on its achievements with the contribution of the Cambodian Defense Ministry and Armed Forces.
General Quyet emphasized that on the basis of the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia, the bilateral defense cooperation has constantly developed and achieved many good results, affirming its role as one of the important pillars in the Vietnam-Cambodia relations, in which cooperation in strategic research has been paid attention to by leaders of the two defense ministries and militaries.
For his part, General Meas Vanna congratulated Vietnam on its obtained outcomes over the past years and thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam People’s Army for their support to the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces over the years.

He expressed belief that the solidarity between the two militaries will continue to be further fostered in the future.
At the working session, the two sides shared views on the security and political situation of common concern in the region and the world to serve their work in conducting research and giving strategic advice.
They also evaluated the outcomes of their cooperation activities and rolled out orientations for their collaboration in the time to come, thus contributing to further bolstering their relations and promoting the Vietnam - Cambodia defense cooperation.
