Welcoming General Nguyen Trong Nghia and the high-level political delegation of the Viet Nam People's Army on their official visit to Belarus, Minister Viktor Gennadievich Khrenin emphasized that Belarus always regards Viet Nam as one of its priorities in its external affairs toward the Asia-Pacific region. He hoped that the two sides will continue consolidating, fostering and developing bilateral relations, while promoting and further deepening defense cooperation in the spirit of the two countries' traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation.
Minister Viktor Gennadievich Khrenin expressed his belief that General Nguyen Trong Nghia's official visit to Belarus would contribute to promoting military cooperation and strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries. The minister sincerely thanked General Nguyen Trong Nghia for his special attention to Belarusian veterans who once stood side by side with the Vietnamese people during the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists for national salvation.

For his part, General Nghia thanked the host for their warm reception and conveyed greetings from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Viet Nam General Phan Van Giang to Minister Viktor Gennadievich Khrenin.
He briefed Minister Viktor Gennadievich Khrenin on the positive outcomes of his talks on September 22 with Major General Leonid Viktorovich Kasinsky, Head of the Main Directorate for Ideological Work of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.
The two sides exchanged views on the world and regional situations and issues of mutual concern. Reviewing defense cooperation over the past period, the two generals noted that the two sides had effectively implemented a number of areas of cooperation, focusing on delegation exchanges, particularly high-level contacts; experience sharing between military services and branches; and training cooperation. These results demonstrate the importance both sides attach to, and their desire to further strengthen, mutually beneficial areas of defense cooperation.

The Vietnamese GDP chairman sincerely thanked the Belarusian Ministry of Defense for providing training slots for the Vietnamese MND. He also proposed that the Belarusian side continue to increase the number of training slots, particularly by accepting Vietnamese military personnel for operational- and strategic-level training. The Vietnamese MND is ready to receive Belarusian trainees to study the Vietnamese language and participate in international defense officials' courses and U.N. military observer training courses.
To further deepen overall defense cooperation, as well as cooperation between the GDP of the Viet Nam People’s Army and the Main Directorate for Ideological Work of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, General Nghia proposed that the two sides coordinate in implementing key areas, including delegation exchanges and high-level contacts; young officer exchange; cooperation between military services and arms; training of military personnel and specialists; and cooperation in military news and communications, military cinematography, military libraries, military women's affairs and the defense industry. He also called for stronger communication and education on the history and significance of the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Belarus.
On the occasion, General Nghia conveyed an invitation from General Phan Van Giang to the leaders of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense to visit Viet Nam and attend the third Viet Nam Defense Expo in Hanoi this December.
The Belarusian minister expressed his belief that the talks would contribute to further developing bilateral defense relations in a substantive and effective manner, consolidating the traditional friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Belarus in line with the interests of the two countries, and contributing to peace, stability and development in each country and the region.
