Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Hien hands over the State President’s decisions to the three officers.

The three officers receiving the decisions are Lt. Col. Trinh Van Thuc, instructor from the Military Medical Academy, who will serve as a military observer at UNMISS; Maj. Manh Ngoc Diep, finance assistant, Division of Logistics and Technical Services, Signal Brigade 21, Viet Nam Border Guard Command, who will serve as a civil-military coordination staff officer at UNISFA; and Capt. Pham Hung, mission assistant, Division of Field Operations, Viet Nam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO), who will serve as an operations staff officer at UNISFA.

In his remarks, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Hien congratulated the three officers on being selected by the Party, State and military to undertake international duties. He also acknowledged the thorough preparations made by the VNDPKO and relevant agencies and units. The three officers have undergone a selection process as well as training and professional development in military expertise, peacekeeping operations, foreign languages, working skills in multinational environments, and the ability to respond to situations in areas where security risks remain significant.

Gen. Hien requested the three officers to maintain a strong political stance and strictly observe military discipline, U.N. regulations and the laws of the host country; pro-actively learn from international experience; respect cultural differences, contributing to preserving and promoting the positive image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, as well as Viet Nam, its land and people.

The defense leader asked the VNDPKO to continue maintaining close management and command of the forces deployed in the mission areas and regularly monitor situational developments to provide timely guidance and address emerging issues, among others.
