On behalf of the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense, Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Head of the Department of Military Medicine under the General Department of Logistics, said that the COVID-19 pandemic has developed complicatedly and unpredictably in many countries around the world.

“To prevent the spread of the virus, along with the efforts of each country, the cooperation of the international community, especially the close collaboration between countries having the shared borderline like Vietnam and Cambodia is very essential,” Kien said.

He also highly appreciated the neighboring country's efforts in preventing the pandemic, and pledged that the Vietnam People's Army is ready to share its experience with the Cambodian people in the fight against the COVID-19, thereby helping them minimize the negative effects caused by the disease.

For his part, Colonel Rem Kann, Cambodian Defense Attaché to Vietnam, thanked the Government, the military and the people of Vietnam for their valuable support.

"The gifts demonstrate the good relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia, contributing to deepening the special friendship, cohesion and comprehensive cooperation between the two armed forces and peoples," he added.

Colonel Rem Kann stressed that over the past years, the defense cooperation between the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Vietnam People’s Army has been increasingly strengthened and continuously served as an important pillar in the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship, thus contributing to the stability and development of each country.

"In the spirit of political trust, equality, mutual benefit, mutual respect and support under the motto of good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-lasting stability, Cambodia will cooperate with Vietnam to continue promoting their bilateral cooperation in an intensive and effective manner," he affirmed.

The Military Command of Houaphanh receives the gifts.

The same day, the Military Command of Thanh Hoa province presented medical supplies to its Lao counterpart of Houaphanh province to help them fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is one of the key activities in the cooperation program to prevent the disease between the two sides.

During the event, the two sides informed each other of important information about the disease situation and exchanged their experience in the COVID-19 treatment and prevention.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Colonel Do Van Minh, Political Commissar of the provincial Military Command presented 3-layer antibacterial cloth face masks, disinfectant sprayers, body temperature meters, hand sanitizer, and Cloramin B to the guest.

Colonel Phongthoong Phanchalonphon, Commander of the Military Command of Houaphanh province, thanked the Vietnamese unit for its support and affirmed that the gifts aimed to encourage the Cambodian troops to better fulfill their duties in the fight against the pandemic.

He also hoped that in the coming time, the two provinces' armed forces will continue to regularly coordinate, exchange information and experience in preventing the disease, thereby contributing to stabilizing people's lives and promoting socio-economic development.
