At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated the close bilateral defense cooperation over the past time, especially in delegation exchange, military technical training and education, and scientific research, among others.
He also expressed his delight at receiving the Russian Deputy Minister of Defense, A.Y. Krivoruchko. On this occasion, via his counterpart, General Cuong also sent greetings and an invitation to visit Vietnam to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov.
The Vietnamese deputy defense minister stated that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia has been promoted despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past time, leaders of the two parties, states and governments have held phone talks to strengthen the bilateral cooperation. Meanwhile, the two defense ministers and defense leaders also successfully joined other phone talks in May and June.

Regarding COVID-19 vaccine, General Cuong hoped that Russia would support the vaccine for front-line forces of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense (MND).
2021 is the fourth year in a row that Vietnam has participated in the Army Games, and marked Vietnam’s hosting of the two contests, “Sniper Frontier,” and “Emergency Area” for the first time. Participating in the Army Games over the past years, the Vietnam People's Army delegation has continued to achieve great achievements and, more importantly, Vietnamese soldiers have had opportunities to exchange, learn from experience and apply their learnt knowledge to their training.
For his part, A. Y. Krivoruchko congratulated the Vietnamese MND on the successful hosting of the “Sniper Frontier” and “Emergency Area” events of the Army Games 2021. He expressed his hope that Vietnam would continue to support, organize, and participate in the Army Games 2022.
