Japanese Self Defense Forces’ Day marked in Hanoi
PANO - The Japanese Embassy in Vietnam held a banquet in celebration of the 65th founding anniversary of the Japanese Self Defense Forces in Hanoi on July 5.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army attended the ceremony.
In his speech, General Minh underlined that Vietnam has highly appreciated Japan’s defense assistance and cooperation with the country, particularly in delegation exchanges at all levels, personnel training, and experience sharing in UN peacekeeping operations.

The Vietnamese general affirmed that the outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation have contributed to expanding the bilateral relationship and become an important pillar in the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership.
A representative of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam hoped that the two Defense Ministries would further expand the bilateral defense cooperation, with a focus on working together to successfully co-chair the ADMM+ Experts' Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations in the 2020-2023 period when Hanoi becomes the Chair of ASEAN in 2020.
