Japanese MND delegation visits Dien Bien Border Guard Command
PANO - A delegation of Japan’s Ministry of National Defense, led by Major General Nemoto Tsutomu, Vice Commandant of the Japan Joint Staff College, visited and held an exchange with the Dien Bien provincial Border Guard Command on June 24.
During the meeting, the delegation was briefed by Senior Colonel Phan Van Hoa, Commanding Officer of the Dien Bien provincial Border Guard Command, on the general situation in border areas and key achievements in carrying out defense, security, and external relations tasks.

In particular, the unit has consistently maintained close coordination and cooperation with the border management and protection forces of neighboring China and Laos through bilateral patrols, meetings, and information-sharing mechanisms. These activities have helped promptly address difficulties and emerging issues while contributing to the joint effort to build a border of peace, friendship, stability, and development.

Speaking at the meeting, Maj. Gen. Nemoto Tsutomu expressed his appreciation for the warm reception by the host. He emphasized that the visit had reaffirmed the effectiveness of the 2026 exchange program for field-grade and company-grade officers between the two sides, hoping that defense cooperation between Vietnam and Japan would continue to be strengthened in the coming years.
