Earlier, the Japanese ships were warmly welcomed at the port by Senior Captain Thai Hong Linh, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 1. The reception was attended by representatives of the Hai Phong Municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Hai Phong Municipal Border Guard Command, and local residents. The Japanese Defense Attaché to Vietnam also joined the welcome ceremony.

Senior Captain Thai Hong Linh extended a warm welcome to the Japanese naval officers and sailors, wishing them a meaningful and memorable time during their visit to the city. In discussions with Vietnamese delegates, Captain Yanagihara Makoto expressed his delight at visiting Hai Phong and shared positive impressions about Vietnam's landscapes and people. After the reception, the Vietnamese delegates toured the Suzunami and Shimakaze destroyers.

The visit of the Japanese ships contributes to enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation between the Vietnamese and Japanese defense ministries, as well as between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. During their stay, the Japanese delegation will engage in exchanges with leaders of the Hai Phong Municipal People's Committee and the Naval Region 1 Command of the Vietnam People's Navy. The Japanese naval officers and sailors will also visit various cultural and historical sites of the city.
