GS’s Deputy Chief receives Lao military guests
PANO - Deputy Chief of the General Staff (GS) of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, on May 19, received a delegation of the Engineering Department of the Lao General Staff, led by its Head Major General Viengxay Xaysamone.
General Tan affirmed that leaders of both countries always uphold and enhance the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in any circumstances and expressed his hope to further promote the sound bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Vietnamese GS’s deputy chief noted that the bilateral defense cooperation has been effectively promoted and developed over the past time, and considered as one of the important pillars in the Vietnam-Laos relations.
During the Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022, the two defense ministries worked together to organize many meaningful activities.

For his part, Major General Viengxay Xaysamone informed General Tan about the results of the previous working session between the Lao delegation with the Engineering Corps of the Vietnam People’s Army. Accordingly, both sides discussed many cooperation contents such as delegation exchange, raising troops’ competence, sharing experience in overcoming war aftermath, among others.

General Tan also hailed the results of the working session, agreeing that both sides would promote experience sharing in education and training engineering force, affirming that the Vietnamese Engineering Corps is playing the core role in conducting mine action activities, educating people to avoid UXO accidents, and sharing experience in overcoming war consequences.
