General Phan Van Giang receives Philippine Undersecretary of National Defense
PANO - Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang received Philippine Undersecretary of National Defense Irineo Cruz Espino on November 22 on the occasion of his trip to Vietnam to co-chair the fifth Vietnam - Philippines Defense Policy Dialogue.

At the meeting, General Giang affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to consolidating and strengthening the strategic partnership with the Philippines and is determined to work with the Philippines to lift the bilateral defense relations to a new height and in an extensive, comprehensive, and sustainable manner, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.

Highlighting the outcomes of the freshly-ended fifth Vietnam - Philippines Defense Policy Dialogue, Gen. Giang emphasized that defense cooperation between the two countries have been strengthened and obtained more practical and effective achievements in delegation exchange, maintenance of dialogue mechanisms, cooperation between arms and services, human resource training, exchange of young officers, and close and effective collaboration at ASEAN-led multilateral forums.

The Vietnamese defense minister suggested the two sides continue to actively and effectively implement cooperation contents reached by heads of the two delegations at the fifth Vietnam - Philippines Defense Policy Dialogue, so as to develop the bilateral defense cooperation in a practical and effective manner, contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Philippines strategic partnership.

For his part, Mr. Irineo Cruz Espino thanked the host for warm welcome and was committed to fully exercising contents agreed by the two defense ministries and common perception of senior leaders of the two countries. He voiced his hope to welcome Defense Minister Phan Van Giang to the Philippines in the coming time.
