General Nguyen Trong Nghia pays courtesy call on Belarusian Security Council Secretary
PANO - As part of his official visit to the Republic of Belarus, on September 23 (local time), General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chairman of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) of the Viet Nam People’s Army, paid a courtesy call on Alexander Volfovich, Secretary of the State Security Council of the Republic of Belarus.

Also attending the meeting was GDP Vice Chairman Senior Lieutenant General Do Xuan Tung.
At the meeting, General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his pleasure at the achievements that the Republic of Belarus has recorded under the leadership of President Alexander Lukashenko. He expressed his hope that Belarus would continue to develop in all fields, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Briefing the host on the outcomes of his talks with the Belarusian Minister of Defense, General Nguyen Trong Nghia said that the two sides had held open discussions on global and regional situations, conditions of each country and its military, as well as the results of bilateral defense cooperation in recent years.
The two sides also reached agreement on orientations for future cooperation, focusing on exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, cooperation between services and arms, young officer exchanges, training of military personnel and experts, popularization and education on the history of the traditional friendship and the strategic partnership between the two countries, and the cooperation in military cinema and libraries.
General Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his hope that Secretary Alexander Volfovich would continue supporting defense cooperation between the two defense ministries in general, and between the GDP of the Viet Nam People’s Army and the Main Directorate for Ideological Work of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense in particular, making bilateral cooperation increasingly substantive and effective.
This would contribute to enhancing the role of defense cooperation as an important pillar of the Viet Nam-Belarus Strategic Partnership, while preserving and promoting the traditional friendship between the two peoples for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
