These are also proofs of the good, friendly, empathetic, sharing and companionship relationship in performing tasks to keep a sea of safety, security, peace and development," General Phan Van Giang affirmed.

General Phan Van Giang praised the Vietnam Coast Guard for coordinating with the regional maritime law enforcement forces to carry out cooperative activities in recent years such as sharing information in maritime crime prevention and control; protecting environment; conducting search and rescue, and organizing training programs. In particular, over the past time, the Vietnam Coast Guard has collaborated with regional maritime law enforcement forces to organize joint patrols with good results, he added.

In the coming time, the Vietnamese defense minister hopes that the Vietnam Coast Guard and the regional maritime law enforcement forces will expand cooperation activities such as experience sharing, information exchange, joint patrol, maritime legal documents’ building; support to fishermen from other countries to operate at sea.

General Phan Van Giang expressed his belief that the "Vietnam Coast Guard and friends" exchange program will contribute to strengthening mutual trust among regional maritime law enforcement forces, contributing to addressing non-traditional security challenges by peaceful means for the sake of building a safe, secure and clean sea.

At the reception, Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Narag Punzalan, Deputy Commandant for Operations of the Philippine Coast Guard, expressed his thank to General Phan Van Giang for a warm reception and said that the first "Vietnam Coast Guard and friends" exchange program is a very important event, which contributes to strengthening the good relationship among regional maritime law enforcement forces. In the past few days, regional maritime law enforcement forces have had many opportunities to meet, share experience, expand cooperation, he added. Notably, after visiting the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022, the head delegates of the regional maritime law enforcement forces were much impressed by the strong development of the Vietnam People's Army.
