Mentioning the good relationship between the two parties, the two states and the people of Vietnam and Cuba, MR5 Commander underlined that Vietnam and Cuba have a special, pure and faithful friendship, which is very rare in international relations and was set up by President Ho Chi Minh, Cuban national hero Jose Marti and President Fidel Castro and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both countries.
The similarities of the two countries in the process of national construction and defense and revolutionary ideals links the hearts of the two countries’ peoples, creating a solid foundation for the Vietnam-Cuba special friendship. Over the past 60 years, the traditional solidarity and comprehensive cooperation of the two countries have constantly strengthened.

Lt. Gen. Thai Dai Ngoc took the occasion to give an overview of the foundation and growth of MR5’s armed forces and the outstanding achievements in military-defense tasks of the forces over the past time, as well as the socio-economic situation of localities in the stationed areas, among others.
For his part, Sr. Lt. Gen. Roberto Legra Sotolongo expressed his appreciation for Vietnam’s history and traditions in the national construction and defense; the glorious traditions of the Vietnam People's Army and MR5’s armed forces.
Also, Sr. Lt. Gen. Roberto Legra Sotolongo showed his love for the people and beauty of Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular, and thanked the host for its warm welcome.
