Welcoming the Cuban official to Vietnam, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong highly appreciated the visit which took place at the time that the two countries are looking forward to celebrating the 60th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam - Cuba Solidarity Committee (September 25, 1963 - 2023) and 50 years when President Fidel Castro visited liberated zone in South Vietnam in September 1973.

The Vietnamese Chief of the General Staff affirmed that Vietnam and Cuba have special traditional relationship which was founded and built by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro and has been treasured and nourished by generations of party and state leaders, people, and militaries of the two countries, becoming a symbolic exemplary relationship.
He added that Vietnam always bears in mind the support of the Cuban Party, State, people, and Revolutionary Armed Forces to Vietnam’s revolution cause and its national protection with the spirit “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood.” The country pays attention to educating its current and future generations about the bilateral relations, thus encouraging them to preserve and uphold the time-honored traditional friendship of the two countries.

Gen. Cuong evaluated that over the past time the bilateral defense cooperation has continued to be consolidated and developed, becoming a pillar and model for the development of cooperation in other fields. Regarding construction sector, he highly appreciated Cuba’s prestige, experience, and strength in this field and affirmed that projects built for Vietnam by Cuba have been effectively used.
Gen. Cuong stated that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense highly appreciated the efforts and responsibility of Cuban experts in carrying out construction projects in Vietnam. He emphasized that completed bidding packages have ensured quality, meeting all set requirements and objectives.

The Vietnamese Chief of the General Staff said that in the coming time, the two sides will coordinate to complete ongoing projects as scheduled and consider setting up cooperation in construction in accordance with the Vietnamese Defense Ministry’s capabilities, current regulations, and laws.
For his part, Mr. René Mesa Antonio Villafaña thanked Gen. Cuong for the reception and said that Cuba is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in construction field.
Highlighting the brotherhood ties between the two parties, governments, states, peoples, and militaries, he affirmed that the Cuban Ministry of Construction, together with the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, expects to foster cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. He hoped that Cuban companies will have the opportunity to participate in construction projects of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense in the coming time.
