Defense Minister hosts reception for Minister of Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces
PANO - Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang chaired the welcome ceremony for Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera, Minister of Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces who is on an official visit to Vietnam on June 22 at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.

The official Vietnam visit of Sr. Lt. Gen. Álvaro López Miera is taking place in the context that the exemplary, special solidarity and friendship between the two parties and countries, founded by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban leader Fidel Castro, and constantly cultivated and respected by generations of leaders of the two parties, states, militaries and peoples, has been positively developing. In the fruitful relations between the two countries, the bilateral defense cooperation has been one of the pillars and the model to promote the two sides’ cooperation in other fields.

On the basis of the agreement on developing defense cooperation signed in 2011 and the defense cooperation plan in the 2020-2022 period, the two sides have achieved important outcomes in defense industry, air defense - air force, training, military medicine, and others.
The visit aims to consolidate political trust, close solidarity between the two countries, militaries and is a good opportunity for the two sides to exchange issues of common concern.
The two sides will review the results of the bilateral defense cooperation over the past time and make orientations for the ties in the time to come to meet the demands and capacity of each side.
