Themed “Indo-Pacific Actions Supporting United Nations Action-for-Peace Initiative (A4P) Improving Performance in Peace Operations,” the three-day event achieved all the set goals.
The event’s agenda included plenary sessions, general and group discussions on such main topics as Vietnam's participation in U.N. peacekeeping operations, AAPTC’s new developments, requirements and challenges for improving the effectiveness of U.N. peacekeeping training and activities under the U.N. A4P, updated report of each peacekeeping center in the Asia-Pacific region, the increase in the rate of women participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations, assessment on specific approaches to improve efficiency of duty performance in U.N. peacekeeping missions, development of training plans to enhance cooperation and share training resources in the region, and more.

The meeting approved important documents, including a joint declaration, a joint communiqué and AAPTC’s amended and supplemented charter.
In his concluding speech, Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) acknowledged and highly appreciated great efforts and high sense of responsibility of delegates, contributing to the success of the meeting.

General Phung said that the meeting created an official and important forum for AAPTC member countries to update the association's development, share lessons and learn from each other.
According to the Vietnamese general, the delegates emphasized the necessity to adjust commitments and resources to meet requirements and challenges facing U.N. peacekeeping missions in preparation, training, deployment, command and force control. They also stressed the need to increase security for U.N. peacekeepers, promote an agenda on women, peace and security, the U.N.’s Action for Peacekeeping (A4P) and the Action for Peacekeeping Plus (A4P+).

The meeting prioritized common strategies and plans with the aim of promoting initiatives, improvements and capacity building measures in response to existing challenges, and raising the efficiency of the U.N. peacekeeping operations.
Addressing the event, Major General Abu Saleh Mohammad Ridwanur Rahman, head of the AAPTC Secretariat, spoke highly of the host Vietnam’s organization of the event. He emphasized that it was an ideal event to open up new relationship and consolidate cooperation among member states. He recommended that the parties should continue to actively support each other for the greater goal of the mankind and world peace.
