An overview of the 28th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum

Participants are scheduled to look into draft documents regarding political and security issues, the agenda of the Meeting of Women Parliamentarians, cooperation in Asia-Pacific, economic and trade matters, and the joint statement of the APPF-29.

The Vietnamese delegation contributed opinions on the documents in the spirit of the Party’s foreign policy of advancing multilateral diplomacy, promoting the Vietnamese legislature’s position and role at regional and international parliamentary mechanisms, and being willing to cooperate for regional recovery and development, towards an Asia-Pacific region of peace, stability, innovation, cohesiveness and sustainable development.

They proposed two draft resolutions and co-sponsored four others, and give opinions to other resolutions.

Established in 1993, the 27-member APPF aims to enhance dialogues between parliamentarians in the region regarding security, politics, and economic-commercial-cultural cooperation to address regional issues, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, sustainable development and prosperity in the region.

Vietnam has joined the forum since 1995.
