Despite efforts, the situation of traffic accidents related to foreigners in Ho Chi Minh City has seen complicated developments. In the first ten months of 2022, there were 17 traffic accidents involving foreigners, killing three people, injuring eight others, and damaging several vehicles.

In response to the situation, in recent days, troops of the Road-Railway Traffic Police Department and the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department have coordinated with Tan Son Nhat International Airport to organize activities disseminate traffic safety law to foreigners to the city.
Leaflets in both Vietnamese and English languages are delivered to international guests as soon as they arrive at the airport. In addition, leaflets are placed on information racks and counters in the international terminal, where foreign guests could easily see. Leaflets’ contents include the basic principles regulated in the Law on Road Traffic and other legal documents of Vietnam related to the work of ensuring traffic order and safety; regulations for car and motorbike users.
Upon receiving these leaflets, international guests at the airport are happy and grateful.
Alex, a French tourist, was surprised when he set foot in Vietnam for the first time. Upon arriving at the airport, the French citizen received information related to traffic safety law from the Vietnamese police force.
Alex said that this is very meaningful to him, because his friends and he plan to travel to other localities by motorbike after visiting Ho Chi Minh. “I agree and will strictly comply with the laws of Vietnam,” said Alex.
In the last months of 2022 and early 2023, it is forecast that the number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City will increase since many large activities and events, especially during the Solar New Year and the Lunar New Year, will be organized. Therefore, the deed of troops of the Road-Railway Traffic Police Department has received the active support of society. It shows the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular. These activities help foreigners know and strictly abide by Vietnam laws when participating in traffic, contributing to preventing and reducing traffic accidents in the area.
