At the meeting, Son affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and hopes to further deepen its traditional friendship and fine cooperation with Mexico, towards the establishment of a more suitable partnership framework in the coming time.

He proposed the two ministries speed up delegation exchanges; maintain close cooperation, coordination and support for each other at international ordinations and multilateral forums that both are members to, such as the United Nations and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC); and promote collaboration between Vietnam and the Pacific Alliance (AP), and between Mexico and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Carmen Moreno Toscano stressed that Vietnam is one of Mexico's important political and economic partners in Asia, particularly as both countries are members of the APEC, and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue coordinating closely with its Vietnamese counterpart to concretize orientations and measures to deepen the bilateral ties and bring substantive benefits to the two countries’ peoples.

On the same day, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet and the Mexican official co-chaired the seventh political consultation to share information on each country’s situation, agree on measures to strengthen the bilateral relations in the coming time, and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The two sides agreed to continue stepping up bilateral cooperation, especially in economy and trade; bringing into full play advantages of the CPTPP; and perfecting a legal corridor to increase the effectiveness of collaboration activities.

It is necessary to maintain and promote the efficiency of the political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries, and the joint committee on economic, trade and investment cooperation; and accelerate negotiations towards the signing of cooperation documents in the fields of diplomacy, finance, agriculture, animal and plant quarantine, education - training, and defense.

After the session, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on collaboration in diplomatic training between the two ministries.

Within the framework of her visit, Carmen Moreno Toscano also paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, and worked with the Vietnam - Mexico Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group.
