In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMNAP) Le Quoc Ly said Vietnam and Laos share certain similarities in political system so that the event affords a chance to propose important measures to deal with challenges, contributing to sustainable national development.

At the seminar

Ly lauded the significance of research on political system between scientists from the HCMNAP and the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, which he said, contributes to not only improving mutual understanding and personnel training quality but also renovating Vietnamese and Lao political systems.

Director of the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration Thongsalith Mangnomek said the event will help study, strengthen, amend and supplement Party policies and guidelines, State laws as well as reform socio-political organisations in the current context.

He urged participants to objectively review and compare Vietnamese and Lao political systems in order to enhance the role, function and responsibility of each agency, towards improving management transparency and quality.

Delegates heard 16 reports on advantages and disadvantages in arranging activities of agencies, strong points and shortcomings in activities of the Vietnamese political system, among others.

It was the second time the event had been held. The first of its kind took place at the HCMNAP in Hanoi.
