Stressing that the Vietnamese MND will continue to closely cooperate and support the Cambodian counterpart in assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2022, General Giang believed that Cambodia, under the leadership of the Government and Prime Minister Hun Sen, will successfully organize commune- and ward-level elections and perform its role as ASEAN Chair 2022.

General Tea Banh expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes of the bilateral defense cooperation over the past time, especially the effective implementation of various contents of the Cooperation Protocol for the 2020-2024 period and the Cooperation Plan for 2022. According to the Cambodian general, many cooperation contents have exceeded expectations.

Also at the meeting, the two sides consented to jointly prepare for the upcoming 45th anniversary of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s “Journey to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime,” to ensure it a success.
