This is an important visit of the head of the world’s largest multilateral organisation, which, as affirmed by the U.N. Secretary-General ahead of the trip, demonstrates the importance the U.N. attaches to its partnership with Vietnam over the past 45 years, and that Vietnam is an indispensable member of the U.N., which has been significantly contributing to U.N. efforts in addressing global challenges, for peace and development in the world.

The visit takes place after Vietnam excellently performed its role as a non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure and was elected to the U.N. Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 tenure.

After 45 years of joining the U.N., with a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance and openness for peace and development, harmoniously combining the ensuring of national interests and international responsibilities, Vietnam has become an active, responsible and prestigious member of the U.N. in particular and the international community in general, actively and effectively contributing to the world’s common affairs.
