The online forum is held by Mexico’s Autonomous University of Chiapas on May 14. |
At the event, which drew the participation of leading Mexican researchers and scholars, Chairman of the Vietnamese Community in the South American country Nguyen Huu Dong stated that April 30, 1975 stands as a testament to the Vietnamese people's indomitable spirit, embodying the culmination of a prolonged struggle fueled by patriotism, countless sacrifices, and the unwavering unity of the nation.
Dong told dozens of UNACH scholars and students that for the Vietnamese community in Mexico, that day provides an opportunity to commemorate Vietnam's heroic history while introducing international friends to a country that has demonstrated remarkable resilience both during war and in peacetime development.
He expressed gratitude towards the Mexican people who consistently supported Vietnam throughout its struggle for independence and national reunification.
Distinguished academics, including Dr. Oswaldo Chacón Rojas, UNACH chancellor, Dr. Jorge Pascacio, Director of UNACH's Institute for Legal Research, and Professor Carlos Antonio Morales Zebadú, collectively looked back on Vietnam's 50-year journey of reconstruction and development. They acknowledged that from the ashes of war, Vietnam has emerged as a dynamic, developing nation deeply integrated into the international community – a vivid demonstration of self-resilience.
Scholars praised the Communist Party of Vietnam’s decision to implement economic reforms aligned with the country’s development needs, resulting in significant achievements. These reforms included establishing a balanced and harmonious economic system encompassing goods, services, finance, real estate, and labor markets, alongside a science–technology development strategy.
This was the second recent forum hosted by Mexican institutions on Vietnam’s national reunification anniversary. On April 29, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy, organized a symposium on the country’s new era of development.
