Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam highlighted the strong integration of the 100,000-strong Vietnamese community in the country, noting that the recent upgrade of Vietnam–Czech ties to a Strategic Partnership has opened new opportunities for cooperation in many fields, especially in trade, investment and business connectivity.
Giang Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese People in the Czech Republic, said around 60,000 Vietnamese hold long-term residence permits and over 30,000 have Czech citizenship, with about 95% engaged in business. This has created a dynamic generation of entrepreneurs with strong adaptability and growing influence in local society.
Nguyen Thai Ngoc, Chairman of the Vietnamese Business Association in the country, stressed that the Czech Republic offers a stable and transparent legal and business environment, more favorable than some neighboring markets such as Russia or Ukraine, amid recent geopolitical volatility.
In his speech, Chau outlined Hai Phong’s development vision to become a northern hub for industry, logistics and international services. With deep-water ports, modern transport infrastructure, and an abundant industrial land bank, the city aims to strongly attract foreign investment capital associated with technological innovation, environmental protection, and high added value.
Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee and head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority Le Trung Kien, emphasized areas in which Hai Phong seeks to strengthen cooperation with Czech businesses, including manufacturing and processing industries, high technology, clean energy, logistics, precision engineering, and pharmaceuticals. He affirmed that Hai Phong is committed to accompanying and fully supporting international investors through administrative reform, digital transformation, and the provision of modern, well-synchronized industrial infrastructure.
Concluding the conference, Chau praised the achievements of the Vietnamese business community in the Czech Republic, describing overseas Vietnamese as “people’s ambassadors” who promote Vietnam’s image and foster trust and cooperation opportunities.
He expressed confidence that the community will continue to thrive and serve as an important bridge between Hai Phong and the Czech Republic, as well as Europe as a whole.
