President of the region Alessandra Todde announced a plan to send a delegation of local officials and businesses to visit Vietnam to explore collaboration and investment opportunities.

In response, Hung pledged the embassy’s coordination and support serving the organization of the trip. He said Vietnam is planning a cooperative conference between the localities of both countries in Italy at the end of 2024, which will invite Sardinian localities and businesses.

Giuseppe De Matteis, Prefect of Sardinia's capital of Cagliari, lauded the contribution by the Vietnamese community. He said both Sardinia and Italy currently require more labor and urged the two countries to study and promote cooperation in this area.

Settimo Nizzi, Mayor of the city of Olbia, proposed stepping up locality-to-locality collaboration, especially in tourism, cultural exchange, and sports.

While in the region, the ambassador participated in an event introducing Vietnam held by Cagliari’s chamber of commerce and business associations, and had working sessions with the Confindustria of Central-Northern Sardinia, the Sardinia port authority, and the University of Cagliari.

The visit was part of the embassy’s series of activities to bridge cooperation between Vietnam and Southern Italian localities.
