Chinese sick sailor on vessel AMIS STAR provided with first aid
A ship from the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (VMRCC) on October 20 provided first aid to critically-ill Chinese sailor on a Liberia-flagged vessel off the coast of the Southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau before bringing him to the shore for further treatment.
Zhu Mingyue, born in 1970, suffered a stroke while vessel AMIS STAR was en route from Singapore to China. The vessel’s captain then altered the course to Vung Tau and sent out a request for urgent assistance.

Receiving the captain’s call for help, the VMRCC requested the Ho Chi Minh City Coastal Information Station to provide initial medical advice. It also deployed a ship and doctors to the site to provide first aid for the sailor before bringing him ashore.
The sailor was then taken to the FV (Franco-Vietnamese) Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment and he is now out of danger.
