Earlier in the day, at 17:45, the center was notified by Seaborne agency that crewmember Eliseo Jr. Burton Estrabon, born in 1956 and a Philippine national, aboard Maribor container ship of Liberia, was suffering a stroke at around 03:40 the same day, resulting in paralysis of his left body. The ship was on its way from Singapore to China and its captain sent a mayday signal to the agency.
Immediately, the center kept contact with both Seaborne agency and Maribor container ship and instructed the ship’s personnel to give first aid to the crewmember. It also mobilized Ship SAR 274 and a medical team from the Da Nang city Health Emergency Center to the scene.
On approaching the container ship, the joint forces gave emergency aid to the sick sailor and moved him to Ship SAR 274 for Da Nang port.
