During the talk, the two sides expressed their delight at the fruitful development of the relations between the two parties and the countries over the past time, especially after the official visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Both foreign ministers shared the view that the success of Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit gave a push for the traditional friendship between the two parties and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

According to FM Son, Vietnam treasures and gives top priority to the friendly neighborliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China. He also emphasized that the two foreign ministries play an important role in urging agencies and sectors to realize the common perceptions of leaders of the two parties and countries.
For his part, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang affirmed that China defines relations with Vietnam as an important priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy.
Regarding the orientations to boost the cooperation in the time to come, the two ministers agreed to strengthen exchanges at all levels to further consolidate bilateral political trust and mark the 15th anniversary of the Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership this year, while working together to effectively implement the projects with assistance from China.
FM Son required both sides to take practical measures to balance trade ties; actively coordinate with each other to solve remaining issues in several projects; increase connectivity among road, rail, sea and air routes; soon restore tourism cooperation in an effective and sustainable manner; and enhance exchange and cooperation between the two foreign ministers.
Meanwhile, FM Qin Gang said Vietnam is an important partner for China in various fields, and expected the two countries would expand and deepen cooperation in economy - trade, investment, strategic connections, cultural exchange, education and tourism, and tighten coordination at regional and international forums.
Regarding the issues at sea, both sides pledged to strictly implement agreements and common perceptions reached by senior leaders of the two parties and countries to maintain peace and stability in the region.
FM Son added that the two countries should respect international laws, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982, for each nation’s development, and positive contribution to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
