The visit is of special importance in the context that Vietnam and Cambodia are preparing for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.
The two PMs had cozy talks with representatives from the government and people of Binh Duong province, including students and former volunteer soldiers and specialists who once worked in Cambodia and supported the Cambodian people.

Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his joy at receiving the Cambodian PM and his high-ranking entourage. The Vietnamese top government official believed that the Vietnam visit of the Cambodian counterpart is of great significance and the vivid token of the close-knit friendship and solidarity between the two countries that has been tested in both wartime and peacetime. The visit will generate a strong momentum for development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, in line with aspirations of the two peoples, contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region.
The visit of the Cambodian PM brought a chance for the two peoples to recall the history of the shoulder-to-shoulder solidarity of the two countries during the wars against common enemies as well as in peacetime. PM Phuc stressed that the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship will live forever like the Mekong River connecting the two countries. Under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party and the Royal Government of Cambodia, the people of Cambodia have earned remarkable achievements in building a Cambodia as a country of peace, stability and development, with an increasingly higher position in the region and the world. PM Phuc wished the country and people of Cambodia to obtain more achievements in the cause of national construction, protection and development.
For his part, Cambodian PM Hun Sen highly appreciated the solidarity and friendship between the two peoples, especially the wholehearted and carefree brotherly supports of the Party, State, Government of Vietnam and the Vietnam People’s Army for the people of Cambodia during their struggles for the national liberation and in overthrowing the genocidal regime of Pol Pot, reliving and rebuilding a nation-state that brings happiness to people. PM Hun Sen then recalled the hard times and memories of 40 years ago when he made his way to Vietnam to find the path to save his nation. He thanked the Vietnamese people for helping him and his teammates during those days.
The Cambodian PM congratulated Vietnam on its achievements over the past time and highly appreciated the contributions of Vietnamese businesses and investors in Cambodia to the country’s socio-economic development. He also expressed his joy over the increasingly developing bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia and hoped the relations will ever develop.
Later in the evening, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc gave a banquet to his Cambodian counterpart and his entourage.
Earlier, on the morning of June 21, Cambodian PM Hun Sen visited historical sites and talked with historical witnesses in Loc Ninh district of Binh Phuoc province, where Hun Sen and his comrades started their revolutionary path for national salvation. The Cambodian PM also cut the ribbon to inaugurate the cultural house of Loc Thanh commune and presented gifts to locals in the locality which witnessed the first steps of his revolutionary career 40 years ago.
PM Hun Sen and entourage concluded the visit on June 22.
