Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and representatives of several Vietnamese ministries, sectors, agencies and localities, together with delegates from international organizations in Hanoi attended the event.

Addressing the event, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo reviewed achievements attained by the Chinese Party, government and people over the past 70 years. He spoke of finding a suitable path for the development of the country in the current context, defining the socialism of Chinese characteristics, developing Chinese socialist culture, and building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the current era.

He also stressed that Vietnam and China will celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship next year, marking a new historical milestone in the bilateral relationship. Therefore, the two sides should comprehensively implement the shared perceptions of the two Parties’ leaders, while continuously promoting their long-standing traditional solidarity.

In addition, both countries should keep following the major direction of the bilateral relationship; protect fundamental benefits of the two peoples and healthy and stable development of the bilateral ties; and promote the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Party, State and people, Deputy Prime Minister Hue extended congratulations to the Chinese Party, State and people on their great achievements in the past 70 years. He said that the foundation of the People’s Republic of China is an important event in China’s history, opening the period of socialism building in the country. He believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China headed by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, the Chinese people will obtain more successes in all aspects.

Deputy Prime Minister Hue highly appreciated possitive developments in the bilateral relations, affirming that the Vietnamese Party, State and people always treasure and remember the mutual support and assistance between the two countries in the cause of revolutionary struggle and national liberation.

He underscored that Vietnam wants to maintain stable and sustainable Vietnam-China ties, contributing to bringing practical benefits to the two peoples and to promoting peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested the two sides implement the common perceptions of the two Parties’ leaders, promote valuable traditions and achievements in the bilateral ties, while controlling disputes and properly solving sea-related issues on the basis of mutual respect and benefits and in accordance with international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

* On this occasion, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam also opened a photo exhibition on China’s development achievements over the past 70 years and the Vietnam-China economic and trade cooperation.
