PANO – The Ministry of Transport has just passed a budget in the sum of VND 28 trillion to build an expressway between Da Nang – Quang Ngai, the Chief of the Office of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Can, unveiled on October 10th.
The expressway, to link Da Nang city and Dung Quat Economic Zone, which is nearly 140 km in length, 26 meters in width and will have a speed limit of 120 km per hour, will be the first road of this kind in Central Vietnam, experts said.
Under the schedule, the project will commence at the end of 2011 and finish in 2016.
Earlier, an agreement was reached, under which JICA, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, will fund the construction of the road section from Da Nang City to Tam Ky City and the investment by the World Bank and the corresponding capital of the Vietnamese Government will be used to fund for the building of the remaining expressway.
According to local officials, the road will connect key economic and industrial zones in Central Vietnam together and create more attractive conditions for investment in the region.
