Vissan Company has been licensed to set up a food processing centre in Luong Binh, Ben Luc, Long An, at the cost of VND 700 billion.

As announced, the complex will be the largest food processing hub in Vietnam.

Located on an area of more than 22.4ha, it will contain a modern system of slaughter-houses with a capacity of 360 pigs per hour, 35 cows per hour and 2,000 fowl per hour.

The chain of food processing factories are said to produce 1,200 tonnes of Chinese sausages, 12,500 tonnes of canned food, 45,500 tonnes of sausages, 1,600 tonnes of ham and 2,000 tonnes of various types of Vietnamese pork-pie, per year.

On average, it is estimated that the centre will supply 38,000-40,000 tonnes of pork, 8,000-10,000 tonnes of fowl, 71,000-75,000 tonnes of processed food to the market.

Under plan, the project will start in 2010 and be operational in 2012.
