PANO – The Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) received the Labor Hero Order on the occasion of its 20th foundation anniversary held in Hanoi on December 26th.

The event saw the participation of State President Truong Tan Sang and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh.

On behalf of leaders of the Party and State, President Sang handed over the order to the group in recognition of its efforts and achievements over the past years.

In the past years, Vinatex has made considerable contributions to the Vietnamese garments and textiles industry. With Vinatex’s operation, Vietnam’s garment export turnover increased over 32 times for 20 years, from US$ 850 million in 1995 to more than US$ 27 billion this year.

Notably, the sector annually creates 25 per cent of new jobs in the country.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh highly valued Vinatex’s business performance, especially in the recent context of global economic crises, and urged the group to continuously boost production to reach its projected export revenue of US$ 5 billion, contributing to the country’s development.
