Qualcomm has chosen Vietnam as its new market, instead of India, said Mr. Vu Minh Tri, Qualcomm Director in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.

The reason for this choice is that Vietnam is a potential market in 3G technology with impressive increase, from 2.5 million of 3G connection equipment in late 2010 to over 22 million in late 2011.

Besides, Vietnam has built a relatively comprehensive data system for 3G connection with more than 22,000 connection stations. Moreover, leading telecom networks in Vietnam have skilled human resources.

As envisaged, this second quarter, Qualcomm will increase its investment capital in Vietnam by 10 folds. The investment will focus on supporting and giving technical assistance to more than 60 retail systems of technological equipment in Vietnam and transferring technology to a Vietnamese network.

Vietnam is among six Qualcomm-funded markets in the world.

It is expected that more smart phone with price under US $100 will be sold in Vietnam this year.
