Over the past 10 years, “Beniazuma” sweet potatoes help thousands of local people in remote areas in highland villages in Dak Nong effectively reduce poverty.
Tran Dinh Manh, Chairman of Tuy Duc District, said that sweet potatoes will be sold at prices of about VND7,000 per kg to foreign enterprises for frozen products, cereals, cakes or jams to be exported to Japan, Malaysia and Singapore at prices of USD7.
Income from growing sweet potatoes is much higher than cultivating rice, corn or fruits. Figures from Dak Nong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reveal that income from two crops of sweet potatoes per one hectare reaches VND 148 million per year on average.
