The Vietnam Technology Transfer Center, the State Agency for Technology Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Center for Exhibition and Trade Promotion of the Military under the Defense Ministry’s Department of Economic Affairs, organized the event.

The seminar was a venue for policy makers, managing officials, and domestic and foreign experts to share digital transformation solutions to corporate governance as well as opportunities and challenges posed by digital transformation to the process of joining new global value chain. It was a forum for businesses, especially leading military businesses in digital transformation to share their experience, achievements, as well as challenges in applying digital technologies to production activities, cooperation, and investment.

The seminar also created an opportunity for domestic and foreign organizations and businesses to meet, exchange, and seek cooperation opportunity and introduce new initiatives, technologies, and products to serve socio-economic development. 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Affairs Senior Colonel Nguyen Viet Anh mentioned the strong development of digital transformation and innovation process in Vietnam recently. He said that severe impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have forced businesses to change to adapt to new situations.

Colonel Anh emphasized that digital transformation is an important solution and inevitable trend that forces Vietnamese businesses to raise their competitiveness and production efficiency to join the global value chain.

Delivering a report at the event, Phan Duc Hieu, a National Assembly deputy of Thai Nguyen province, said that digital transformation in businesses is the integration and application of digital technologies to improving business and management efficiency, enhancing their capacity and competitiveness, and creating new values. Digital transformation activities vary from digitization of data and application of digital technologies to automation and optimality of processes to changes of whole business model to create new values for businesses.

Hieu emphasized that leaders and managing officials of businesses play the key and decisive role in digital transformation. 

Sharing Hieu’s view on the importance of leaders in digital transformation, Deputy Director of the Viettel Business Solutions Corporation under the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) non-commissioned Lieutenant Colonel Doan Dai Phong said that digital transformation is a continuous journey, requiring the Government and businesses to prioritize their budget for it.
