Foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) provided about 250 million USD to Vietnam in 2013, according to the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations.

The financial assistance was poured into such fields as socio-economic development, healthcare, education–training, and natural resources–environment in all 63 provinces and cities, it said.

The information was released at an annual meeting with foreign NGOs held by the Committee for Foreign NGO Affairs in Hanoi on December 31.

The function reviewed the performance of foreign NGOs in 2013, announced outcomes of the third international conference on cooperation between Vietnam and these organisations, and introduced an action plan of the national programme on promoting the mobilisation of foreign NGO aid for the 2013 – 2017 period.

The meeting drew representatives of some 250 foreign NGOs operating in the country, bilateral and multilateral development cooperation agencies, and Vietnamese sectors.
