BIDV was founded on April 26, 1957 under the initial name of Bank for Construction of Vietnam (1957-1981), then renamed Bank for Investment and Construction of Vietnam (1981-1990), Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (1990-2012), and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (since 2012).

After 65 years, BIDV has become a financial institution of multi-ownerships with more than 1,000 branches and transaction offices at home and abroad, 10 subsidiaries and commercial presences in Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Russia, and Taiwan (China).

With its outstanding achievements, BIDV has been honored with noble awards and prizes by the Vietnamese Party and State, the Party and State of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and the King of Cambodia.

At the ceremony, BIDV was presented the third-class Labor Order, the second-class Development Order of Laos, and the Sahametri Order, Moha Sena class.
