Bac Ninh urged to boost sustainable socio-economic development
National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has urged the Northern province of Bac Binh to promote sustainable socio-economic development, ensure social welfare and defense-security, and protect the environment.

The NA leader made the request while attending a ceremony on October 19 to mark the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Bac Ninh province (1958-2018).
“Economic development should pay attention to raising product quality and competitiveness, and attracting investment in developing high-tech and supporting industries and information technology with a view to turning Bac Ninh into a modern industrial and hi-tech center in the Northern region,” she said.
In the process of integration and development, the province must attach importance to preserving historical values and cultural identities, she noted, adding that Bac Ninh is home to Quan ho (love duet) singing, which was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
The top legislator asked the province to focus on instructing Party building, improving the management of authorities at all levels, and enhancing the efficiency of the fight against corruption and wastefulness.
She expressed his belief that with its tireless efforts, Bac Ninh will continue to create strong breakthroughs in socio-economic development in the time to come.
Over the past six decades, from a poor province, Bac Ninh has now become one of the localities recording rapid and stable growth, and a leading province nationwide in attracting foreign direct investment.
