According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, export earnings from farm produce in the January-October period are estimated at USD 15.62 billion, up 15.2 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the shipment of aquatic and forestry products is expected to hit USD 6.73 billion and USD 6.44 billion, representing respective year-on-year increases of 17.6 percent and 9.9 percent.

Vietnam’s rice exports in October are expected to reach 430,000 tons worth USD 206 million, raising the ten-month volume and value to 5.05 million tons and USD 2.25 billion, up 22.3 percent and 21.1 percent, respectively. The average rice export prices of the nine months were USD 442.3 per tons, falling 1.6 percent from the same period of 2016.

Strong export price increases were seen in coffee, cashew, and rubber. The country hopes to earn USD 1.77 billion from shipping abroad 1.05 million tons of rubber in the 10-month period, up 5.7 percent in volume and 40.6 percent in value year on year.

Cashew exports hit 289,000 tons worth USD 2.87 billion, falling 0.4 percent in volume, yet raising 23.1 percent in value.

Meanwhile, shipment of coffee is estimated at 1.17 million tons to pocket USD 2.69 billion, dropping 2.5 percent.

The exports of pepper are estimated at 192,000 tons, worth USD 1.02 billion in the reviewed time, up 20.7 percent in volume, yet reducing by 21 percent in value year on year.

Vietnam shipped USD 209 million worth of vegetables and fruits in October, raising the figure of the first ten months to USD 2.84 billion, up 41.2 percent year on year.

China, Japan, the US and the Republic of Korea were the four leading importers of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits.

The ministry also reported that Vietnam spent around USD 1.86 billion importing agro-forestry-aquatic products in October, raising the total Jan-Oct import value to USD 22.93 billion, up 14.3 percent from the same period last year.
