Viettel supports Lao Cai’s district with monitoring system
PANO – The Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) handed over a Vcam system for monitoring security and traffic to Bao Thang district People’s Committee of Lao Cai province on November 14.
At the handover ceremony, Tran Ngoc Truong, Director of the Information Technology Center of Viettel’s Lao Cai chapter, said that the security monitoring cameras have been installed in numerous localities; however, Vcam, a product made by engineers of Viettel, is better than other types. Its data are stored at customers’ servers, which helps improve information security for the customers, he added.
Specifically, the data are compressed by technologies developed by Viettel before being saved at a compression ratio of up to 40 percent in order to optimize hard disk space and improve storage time. In addition, customers can choose to install all Vcam equipment or they can choose to rent it on the monthly or yearly basis.
Deputy Chairman of the Bao Thang district People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Binh said that the system of 30 Vcams has been installed at 10 locations since October this year. After one month of trial, the security situation and traffic safety at the set locations have improved. The district plans to install more Vcams at other locations in the time to come, he said.
