Speaking at the APEC Dialogue on Sustainable Urbanization, APEC 2017 SOM Chair and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son highlighted the significance of the dialogue in implementing APEC 2017’s priority to promote sustainable, creative, and inclusive growth.

Delivering the opening speech at the event, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Construction Phan Thi My Linh asked the delegates to focus discussions on solutions to challenges facing APEC’s members, including urban management, asynchronous development between social and technical infrastructure, and impacts of climate change and sea level rise.
The Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG) also convened the plenary meeting. Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep laid stress on the importance of high quality human resources, considering it a key factor for the development of each country.
The participants discussed preparations for a senior policy dialogue on human resources development in the digital age and checked the deployment of group’s strategies and action plans in the coming time.
At the second Meeting of the Committee on Trade and Investment (CTI 2), delegates discussed issues relating to trade facilitation, connection, creative growth promotion, and strengthening the engagement of businesses.
The activities of the Ad-hoc Steering Group on the Internet Economy took place the same day with a focus on APEC Route on internet economy which aims to promote potentials of the Internet and connecting economies.
The Policy Partnership Women and the Economy (PPWE) organized the Workshop on APEC Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to seek measures to provide favorable environment for women working in this field, making contributions to narrowing the gender gap in education on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The same day, Vietnam hosted the General Meeting of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) with the participation of 40 delegates from 26 PECC’s member councils.
