PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomes Alibaba Chairman Jack Ma
Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Hanoi on November 6 for Executive Chairman of the Chinese Alibaba Group Jack Ma who is in Vietnam to attend the Vietnam E-Payment Forum.
Jack Ma said that his visit aims to study Vietnam’s e-commerce along with cooperative opportunities with Vietnamese partners in this field.
He said the opportunity for e-commerce development of Vietnam remains huge as the country has a young and active population.
He expressed his interest in Vietnam’s master plan on e-commerce development during 2016-2020 which targets 30 percent of the population conducting e-commerce transactions by 2020.

To achieve the goal, Jack Ma proposed building policies to hasten non-cash payments, including e-payments on smart phones, and paying attention to speeding up the processing of logistics service procedures.
Acknowledging the guest’s proposals, PM Phuc assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to considering them and boosting cooperation with Alibaba.
He asked Alibaba to open a Vietnam store to introduce Vietnamese products to consumers in China, and cooperate with Vietnamese partners in training e-commerce skills and helping macro enterprises and people gain access to e-commerce.
He said he hopes to receive assistance and investment from Jack Ma and Alibaba Group in start-up funds in Vietnam.
Jack Ma said that he endorsed the creation of the Vietnam store on Alibaba and that he will work to step up cooperative forms to help develop e-commerce in Vietnam.
