HPP technology to be applied in food processing in Vietnam
PANO - A ceremony to sign an agreement on the construction of a High Pressure Processing (HPP) processing plant in Vietnam between the Minh Hung Group, Canada’s MHEnviron Group, and John Bean Technologies (JBT) Corporation was held in Ho Chi Minh City on February 27.
Present at the event were Vietnam’s Deputy-Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh, Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Phung Duc Tien, and President of the General Council of Agriculture and Rural Development Ho Xuan Hung.
The plant’s construction will begin in September 2018 in Ben Luc district, Long An province, at a cost of VND 500 billion. The project will be put into operation after nine months of construction. They will sell processed products in foreign markets like North America and the EU.
HPP is a cold pasteurization technique by which products, already sealed in its finished package, are subjected to a high level of isocratic pressure transmitted by water. It helps eliminate food spoilage microorganisms.
