Traditional boat race launched in HCM City

The event is part of activities in celebration of the 91st founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931-2022), the 76th anniversary of the Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946-2022), and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of District 7 (April 1, 1997-2022).

The race was held to promote physical exercises and sports movements in general and the practice of traditional boat race among the city’s people. At the same time, it aims to raise the community’s awareness of the role of physical exercise and sport activities in improving health as well as call on people to join hands to protect the environment.

This year tournament witnessed the participation of 500 athletes of teams from 21 districts of the city and other provinces such as Soc Trang, Binh Phuoc, An Giang, Dong Nai, Binh Thuan, and so on.

The organizers hand over the first prize to the team of Dong Phu district of Binh Phuoc province. The second prize went to the Binh Thuan province team and the third prize belonged to the Physical and Sports Center of Binh Thanh district of Ho Chi Minh City.

Apart from the race, the organizers also held performance of water sports and powered paragliding.
