PANO - Over 300 athletes from 10 teams took part in the Ho Chi Minh City's Traditional Boat Race 2015 held by the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 24th at Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal in Binh Thanh district.

Athletes competed in five categories for both singles’ and mixed events in a distance of 400m from Dien Bien Phu Bridge to Thi Nghe Bridge.

The competition is part of activities to raise people's awareness of environment protection and sport practices, especially boat racing, in daily life.

Many locals and tourists stood along Truong Sa-Hoang Sa Street to encourage athletes. The boat racing team of District 8 finished first.
