The Hai Phong-born coach said he was so busy preparing the team for the year’s plans that he even had no time for any phone calls from the press.

The well-known former The Cong football player is paying much attention and time to training young players of the U19 Viettel F.C.

In the past, Nam led Hai Phong F.C. twice, used to be a member of the training board of Hanoi T&T F.C. (now Hanoi F.C.) and the head coach of Viettel F.C., but did not gain much.

Since he entered the Viettel Sports Center, his career has moved to a new page. In 2016, he led the U16 Vietnam to leave a strong impression at the Southeast Asian U16 Football Championship and the qualification round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U16 Championship.

This year, under Nam’s guidance, U19 Viettel emerged as one of the top nominees for the national U19 Championship.

Nam was also known with another name of Nam “cho” (market), a familiar nickname not only reminding the "Sat (Iron) Market" in the 65-year-old coach’s homeland of Hai Phong but also showing his strong and sharp personalities, not being afraid of hardships.

Unlike other coaches, Nam does more than just coach. Every day, he spends much of his time practicing football with young players. With wholehearted efforts, his only hope is that the U19 Viettel F.C. could develop strongly and discover more talents for the national football squad.
