In the 19th minute, after a left-wing cross from Nhat Minh, midfielder Khuat Van Khang made a one-touch finish to open the scoring for U23 Vietnam.
After conceding, the Lao U23 team remained loyal to their defensive counter-attacking approach. Although their players showed determination, their attacks lacked potency.
In the second half, coach Kim Sang-sik made several substitutions to refresh the attacking front. U23 Vietnam doubled the lead in the 71st minute. From a corner kick taken by Dinh Bac, center-back Hieu Minh headed the ball in from close range to make it 2-0.

In the 84th minute, from another corner, goalkeeper Kop Lokphathip failed to clear effectively. Amid the chaos in the penalty area, Hieu Minh received a pass from a teammate and smashed the ball into the roof of the net, winning a brace and sealing a 3-0 win for U23 Vietnam.
In the remaining minutes, U23 Vietnam continued to dominate possession and pushed forward but could not add to the scoreline.
With this 3-0 victory, U23 Vietnam claimed the top spot in Group B. According to the schedule, they will face U23 Cambodia at 8:00 p.m. on July 22.
