Minister encourages Vietnamese athletes ahead of SEA Games 29
PANO – On August 7, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, met with Vietnamese athletes and coaches participating in the 29th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 29) at the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Tran Duc Phan, Deputy Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, and head of the Vietnam sport delegation, said that this year Vietnam sends 476 athletes to compete in 32 out of 38 sport events at SEA Games 29 and targets to rank third among participating countries with more than 60 gold medals. The head of the Vietnamese delegation underlined that the Vietnamese delegation is ready and determined to bring glory to the nation.
In turn, Minister Thien highly applauded the spirit and efforts of Vietnamese athletes in preparation for the upcoming regional sport event. He wish them good health and high determination to achieve good results at the event.
The see-off ceremony for the Vietnamese sports delegation will be held in Hanoi on August 8 evening. The delegation will then leave Vietnam for Malaysia on August 16.
